A Sculpture is defined as a manually crafted specimen displaying beautiful artistic features serving a specific purpose but in the reality sculpture is much more than this. Sculpting is supposed to be the most beautiful but at the same time difficult form of art.
But for Supriya It's like simply giving Life to Lifeless - stone or metal. This ability to create a New World from lifeless Stones or metals, makes Supriya Shinde a Classic Artist by birth.
One can say Mrs. Supriya has art in her genes. Her father runs a workshop where Ganesh idols were Sculpted and manufactured. Ms.Supriya used to help her father at his workshop in her early days where she got her 1st lessons.
Supriya just tried follow the footsteps of her father in sculpting and Art. The qualities of an artist were imbibed and she was destined to become a sculptor herself.
Her father was surprised when she completed her oil painting of "Throne Ceremony of Shivaji Maharaj" with figurative style, when she was studying at mere 11th standard. The details, finishes and colours are on par with any mature artist.
So her father immediately took a decision and enrolled her name in the Art School in Narayan Gaon for very basic foundation course. Where her life took a another beautiful new turn.

Within an year of her admission to art school, she got married to Mr. Shekhar Shinde and became a full-time housewife. She gave birth to a baby son name is Samarth. Even while doing daily chores at house, she was restless. She was craving for pursuing her passion - art. Mr. Shekhar felt her urge for Art and sculpting, so he started his own workshop of Ganesh Idols.
After three long years break she took admission for Sculpting in Bharati Vidyapeeth at Pune. For few years like any other career oriented woman, she was also doing a balancing act. Shouldering family responsibilities, running workshop and simultaneously attending classes.
Her dedication and grit has brought success to her. Her teacher in art school , Mr. Sunil Deshpande was the powerhouse of support for her. He not only guided her, honed her skills but encouraged her in her testing times. He advised her to develop more in Realistic style as anatomy where she had a very stronghold. As one says "The right advise at right time and by the right person can change your life for better." Mrs.Supriya will be always grateful to Mr. Deshpande sir for his advice, guidance and support.
Mrs.Supriya believes that every event, every occasion tells you something. Even if they are routine chores, they have a story to tell. Every human reaction is an expression of certain feelings. We experience love, affection and caring, warmth every moment. This is real. And can be expressed only in realistic style of sculpture.
It is said that behind every successful man there is a woman. In Mrs. Supriya's case, it is a Man, her husband Shekhar. Mr. Shekhar Shinde is the first aficionado and a real critic too. Mr. Shekhar's dearest dream is Mrs. Supriya wins national an international approval, accolades and awards. She should set new benchmarks in the field of sculpting.
His support and encouragement is Mrs. Supriya's biggest asset. In recognition of his feelings, Mrs. Supriya has decided to dedicate her work and future studio in the name of her father-in-law, Late Shri Namdev Narayan Shinde.

Mrs. Supriya has innate knowledge of anatomy which has prompted her to work in realistic style. She opines that any artist who can work in realistic style can work in any other style. Realistic style allows you to concretize your thoughts, creative ideas. Mrs. Supriya prefers life work in realistic style. Her material of choice now is fiber and she has plans to handle all other materials like wood, cement, bronze, etc. and experiment with these various materials and styles in the years to come.
